International Emergency Health Insurance (EHI)

The International Emergency Health Insurance (EHI) provides coverage to International Students in the event of an emergency medical occurrence, accident, or illness while they are studying in Canada at Nova Scotia Community College. A pre-existing exclusion may apply to medical conditions and/or symptoms that existed before you came to Canada for study.

There may be limitations and exclusions that apply within the international policy. An exclusion is a condition or instance that is not covered by the International Emergency Health Insurance (EHI). It’s important to review and understand exclusions to the plan before using your benefits.

International Plan Card Generator

Students enrolled in the International Emergency Health Insurance (EHI), mycanadaplan, powered by Morcare, are required to generate their International Student Plan card or Repatriation Plan card. The physical card must be presented when visiting a hospital or clinic. Please print a copy of your international plan card. For assistance with your plan card generation, please complete the Contact Form.

Transportation and Repatriation Plan

All international students who have opted out of the International Emergency Health Insurance (EHI) with MSI are automatically enrolled in the Emergency Transportation and Repatriation Plan. This plan covers international students in the event of an accident, sickness, injury, critical illness, or death, and need to return to their home country or country of citizenship.

There may be limitations and exclusions that apply within the Emergency Transportation and Repatriation policy. An exclusion is a condition or instance that is not covered by the Plan. It's important to review and understand exclusions to the plan before using your benefits.

This coverage is not offered through the Nova Scotia Provincial Health Care program.

Direct Billing Networks

Should you require immediate medical attention due to an illness, injury, or accident, and your situation is emergent, please dial 911.

For assistance with an illness, injury or accident, please call the contact center for mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare before seeking medical care or visiting a walk-in clinic to help you manage your clinic choices and assist with the process of confirming your booking with a specified clinic from the direct billing network, if applicable, and provide them with a Verification of Benefits (VOB), allowing for your visit to be direct billed to the insurer.

When visiting a walk-in clinic that is not part of a direct billing network, please note that you will be required to pay out-of-pocket for your doctor visit and then submit a claim. To submit a claim, please download the claim form under plan claims or email mycanadaplan@gallivan.ca for assistance.

In the event you are issued a medical invoice and pay out of pocket for a clinic visit it is recommended you request a copy of all the medical records related to your visit before you leave the clinic or hospital and follow the instructions under Plan Claims to submit a claim or by contacting the mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare contact center at mycanadaplan@gallivan.ca or by completing the Contact Form with your name and student ID with your inquiries related to your claim, such as completing the claim form.

Members will only receive communication and/or follow up from a Case Manager via the insurer if they reach out to assistance for medical care when a case number is opened; or have submitted a claim to the mycanadaplan Powered by Morcare team and are informed additional information is required.
