How to use your legal coverage

The selected attorney must be a member in good standing of a law society in Canada.

1 Legal Hotline

Once you have had the initial phone consult with a legal assistant through the legal assistance line, you could be referred to an attorney based on the specific circumstances of your case.

2 Legal Consultation

Upon meeting the lawyer, you will have access to a free 30-minute consultation to discuss all aspects of your legal situation, and the legal discounts available to you and determine whether the lawyer is a good fit for your needs.

3 Enrollment Confirmation

The selected attorney must email legal.network@assistenza.ca to confirm that the student is eligible for coverage before any services are provided.

4 Pay Direct Claims

Once the confirmation is received, the selected attorney shall submit their invoices of up to $3,250 per incident to legal.network@assistenza.ca for repayment. The fees are dispersed directly to the lawyer and not to the student.

You do not need to pay out of pocket for the first $3,250 in legal fees but will be responsible for any fees over that amount.

The $3,250 in legal fees per incident will be available to you for 12 months from the date the funds are released to your selected lawyer.
