Eligibility Criteria

The International Student Medical Plan – mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare provides coverage in the event of an emergent medical occurrence for eligible international students enrolled at Concordia University of Edmonton, such as an injury, illness, or accident, minimizing the costs associated with the effects of injury or ailments costs while studying in Canada. The coverage is comparable to doctor-insured services such as visiting a medical clinic or hospital.

Eligible students will be insured through the mandatory international plans; the International Student Medical Plan - mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare and Emergency Transportation and Repatriation Plan. The fees will be added to your student account and be part of the tuition when you are enrolled at Concordia University of Edmonton.

International students are automatically enrolled in the international plans if they meet the following criteria:

  • You are an international student studying for 12 months or less; and
  • You must be registered and accepted in an eligible program as an international student; and
  • You are under the age of 65.

All International students enrolled in an eligible program are automatically eligible for the Emergency Transportation and Repatriation Insurance Plan.

If you are eligible for the mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare International Student Medical Plan and have not received your Confirmation of Enrolment, please contact your Benefit Plan Office at concordiaplan@mystudentplan.ca

International Plan Card

Students enrolled in the International Student Medical Plan can generate their International Plan Card by selecting the link below When following the link for your school instructions include entering your Date of Birth, Student ID.

Opting Out or Adding Dependents

The International Student Medical Plan - mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare and Emergency Transportation and Repatriation Plan are mandatory. Eligible students are not permitted to opt-out of the plan or add family members to their coverage.

Coverage Period

The coverage period is the length of time which your mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare International Student Medical Plan is in effect. The mycanadaplan, Powered by Morcare International Student Medical Plan coverage is effective as of first day of the month in which your program commences to the last date of the month in which your program ends.

Effective Date

Eligible students will receive coverage as of the 1st day of the month in which your program commences.

Example

Program start date is Sept 2nd thus coverage begins September 1st to December 31st (program end is in the Month of December).

If a student returns for a 2nd semester, program start date is Jan 10th, coverage begins January st to May 31st.

Termination Date

The termination date of your benefits is the coverage end date based on the month in which your program ends. If you want to confirm the termination date of your plan, please contact your Benefit Plan Office at concordiaplan@mystudentplan.ca.
