Eligibility Criteria
The International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan provides coverage in the event of an emergent medical occurrence for eligible international students enrolled at Tyndale University, such as an injury, illness, or accident, minimizing the costs associated with the effects of injury or ailments costs while studying in Canada. The coverage is comparable to doctor-insured services such as visiting a medical clinic or hospital.
Eligible students will be insured through the mandatory International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan - mycanadaplan. The fees will be added to your student account and be part of the tuition when you are enrolled at Tyndale University.
International students are automatically enrolled in the international plans if they meet the following criteria:
- They are international student; and
- They hold a valid study permit; and
- They must be registered and accepted in an eligible program as an international student; and
- They obtained proof of admission and registration with Tyndale University; and
- They are under the age of 65.
Enrollment Confirmation
If you are unsure about whether or not you are eligible for the International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan - mycanadaplan, please contact Tyndale University at healthcare@tyndale.ca prior to any applicable deadlines.
International Wallet Card
Eligible students enrolled in the International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan will receive the plan card and the policy document by email. Students will receive this information at their Tyndale University email address.
If you are eligible for the International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan and have not received the welcome email, please contact Tyndale University at healthcare@tyndale.ca.
Opting Out
International Students enrolled in myCanadaPlan is mandatory and opt-outs of the Emergency Medical Plan are not permitted.
Adding Dependents
If you will be traveling with dependents such as your spouse or children, it is possible to add them to your International Student Emergency Medical Insurance Plan. You can submit an online Family Add-On application by the applicable deadline. You must pay the additional fees by credit card before the applicable deadline to active the family coverage.
Coverage Period
International students are enrolled onto the Tyndale University International Emergency Medical Insurance Plan for 12 months commensurate with their approved registration dates as confirmed by Tyndale University. Student effective and expiry dates are predetermined with Tyndale University and the insurer.

Early Arrival
International students who arrive early are to contact Tyndale University at healthcare@tyndale.ca for your specific early arrival information. When emailing for your information, please provide your arrival date to Canada for the appropriate assistance.
Each student and dependent must apply individually and will be covered under separate policies provided the appropriate premiums have been paid.
