International Medical Plan Opt-Out Applications

International Medical Plan Opt-Out Eligibility
International students that obtain valid provincial health care coverage (Saskatchewan Provincial Health Card) are eligible to opt-out of the International Medical Plan by completing this online form or alternate comparable international plan coverage is in place for the coverage period. All submitted proof will be reviewed for approval.
This online opt-out applies in year one to the international student medical plan. Once approved you will automatically be enrolled in the Emergency Transportation and Repatriation Plan.
- Students who opt-out of the International Medical Plan will no longer be able to submit claims to this program. It is important for students to contact the Benefits Plan Office should they have outstanding health expenses that occurred prior to obtaining Saskatchewan Health coverage. Opting out may result in those expenses not being covered by either program.
- It is the student's responsibility to renew their Saskatchewan Health card and maintain active coverage for as long as you are eligible.
- NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if a Saskatchewan Health card is not received on time. It is the student's responsibility to pay the plan's mandatory fees, should they not submit the Saskatchewan Health card with their online opt-out form.
- Once you complete the International Medical Plan opt-out form, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Please keep this email for your records as it is your only proof of submitting an opt-out request.
- Submitting this form does not confirm that you have successfully opted out. Your online opt-out is pending until the Benefits Plan Office receives confirmation from the insurer that your coverage has been cancelled.
