International Student Medical Plan Opt-Out Applications

Submit your International Student Medical Plan opt-out application before the deadline.

Fall Application Period

August 1^st to September 19^th, 2025

Make sure to submit your form by September 19^th as the online form won't be accessible after that date.

Opt-Out Eligibility

International students with valid Manitoba Health Care Program may be eligible to opt-out of the International Student Medical Plan.

How to Opt Out

To apply to Opt-Out, you must be assessed the mycanadaplan fee on your tuition, meet the eligibility criteria, have proof of coverage, and complete the online form before the applicable deadline.

Steps to Opt-Out

Things to consider:

Students who opt-out of the International Student Medical Insurance Plan will no longer be able to submit claims to this program. It is important for students to contact the Benefits Plan Office should they have outstanding health expenses that occurred prior to obtaining Manitoba coverage. Opting out may result in those expenses not being covered by either program.
NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if the deadline is missed. It is the student's responsibility to pay the plan's mandatory fees, should they miss the applicable opt-out deadline.
Once you complete the International Student Medical Insurance Plan opt-out form, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Please keep this email for your records as it is your only proof of submitting an opt-out request.
Submitting this form does not confirm that you have successfully opted out. The opt-out application is pending until the Benefits Plan Office receives confirmation from the insurer that your coverage has been cancelled.

Fall 2025: The online form will be available on August 1^st, 2025, and the application deadline is September 19^th, 2025. This deadline is for all eligible students.
